The river’s channels bring joy to the city of God, the special, holy dwelling place of the sovereign One.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God’s blessings are like a river. They fill the city of God with joy. That city is the holy place where the Most High God lives.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High.

There is a river— its streams delight the city of God, the holy dwelling place of the Most High.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life– water as clear as crystal– pouring out from the throne of God and of the Lamb,flowing down the middle of the city’s main street. On each side of the river is the tree of life producing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month of the year. Its leaves are for the healing of the nations.And there will no longer be any curse, and the throne of God and the Lamb will be in the city. His servants will worship him,

They are filled with food from your house, and you allow them to drink from the river of your delicacies.For you are the one who gives and sustains life.

Then he brought me back to the entrance of the temple. I noticed that water was flowing from under the threshold of the temple toward the east( for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from under the right side of the temple, from south of the altar.He led me out by way of the north gate and brought me around the outside of the outer gate that faces toward the east; I noticed that the water was trickling out from the south side.When the man went out toward the east with a measuring line in his hand, he measured 1, 750 feet, and then he led me through water, which was ankle deep.Again he measured 1, 750 feet and led me through the water, which was now knee deep. Once more he measured 1, 750 feet and led me through the water, which was waist deep.Again he measured 1, 750 feet and it was a river I could not cross, for the water had risen; it was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be crossed.He said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen this?” Then he led me back to the bank of the river.When I had returned, I noticed a vast number of trees on the banks of the river, on both sides.He said to me,“ These waters go out toward the eastern region and flow down into the Arabah; when they enter the Dead Sea, where the sea is stagnant, the waters become fresh.Every living creature which swarms where the river flows will live; there will be many fish, for these waters flow there. It will become fresh and everything will live where the river flows.Fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to En-eglaim they will spread nets. They will catch many kinds of fish, like the fish of the Great Sea.But its swamps and its marshes will not become fresh; they will remain salty.On both sides of the river’s banks, every kind of tree will grow for food. Their leaves will not wither nor will their fruit fail, but they will bear fruit every month, because their water source flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”

People say wonderful things about you, O city of God.( Selah)

We heard about God’s mighty deeds, now we have seen them, in the city of the LORD, the invincible Warrior, in the city of our God. God makes it permanently secure.( Selah)

He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water.

“ These people have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and melt in fear over Rezin and the son of Remaliah.So look, the sovereign master is bringing up against them the turbulent and mighty waters of the Euphrates River– the king of Assyria and all his majestic power. It will reach flood stage and overflow its banks.

The children of your oppressors will come bowing to you; all who treated you with disrespect will bow down at your feet. They will call you,‘ The City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.’

But now I have chosen Jerusalem as a place to live, and I have chosen David to lead my people Israel.’

The LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise in the city of our God, his holy hill.

As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king–

And I saw the holy city– the new Jerusalem– descending out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying:“ Look! The residence of God is among human beings. He will live among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.

You visit the earth and give it rain; you make it rich and fertile with overflowing streams full of water. You provide grain for them, for you prepare the earth to yield its crops.

If only you had obeyed my commandments, prosperity would have flowed to you like a river, deliverance would have come to you like the waves of the sea.

Reveal your light and your faithfulness! They will lead me, they will escort me back to your holy hill, and to the place where you live.

But you, O LORD, reign forever!

But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly

So he took me away in the Spirit to a huge, majestic mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.

Then you must come to the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing everything I am commanding you– your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him.You shall rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God, along with your sons, daughters, male and female servants, and the Levites in your villages( since they have no allotment or inheritance with you).

I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.”’”The LORD’s messenger went out and killed 185,000 troops in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses!

It is fitting to thank the LORD, and to sing praises to your name, O sovereign One!

With what should I enter the LORD’s presence? With what should I bow before the sovereign God? Should I enter his presence with burnt offerings, with year-old calves?

If you see the extortion of the poor, or the perversion of justice and fairness in the government, do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, and there are higher ones over them!
