But you rejected and embarrassed us! You did not go into battle with our armies.

O God, you have rejected us. You suddenly turned on us in your anger. Please restore us!

For you are the God who shelters me. Why do you reject me? Why must I walk around mourning because my enemies oppress me?

For the Lord will not reject us forever.Though he causes us grief, he then has compassion on us according to the abundance of his loyal kindness.

“ You have surely noticed what these people are saying, haven’t you? They are saying,‘ The LORD has rejected the two families of Israel and Judah that he chose.’ So they have little regard that my people will ever again be a nation.But I, the LORD, make the following promise: I have made a covenant governing the coming of day and night. O LORD, why do you reject me, and pay no attention to me?

So I ask, God has not rejected his people, has he? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew! Do you not know what the scripture says about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?“ Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars; I alone am left and they are seeking my life!”But what was the divine response to him?“ I have kept for myself seven thousand people who have not bent the knee to Baal.”So in the same way at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.And if it is by grace, it is no longer by works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it.
