Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, you shield my head in the day of battle.

May all who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.

The Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.

And I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore, as they did at the beginning

They said to Samuel,“ Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that he may rescue us from the hand of the Philistines.”Then Samuel took a suckling lamb and sacrificed it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on Israel’s behalf, and the Lord answered him.While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the Lord thundered with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic that they were routed before the Israelites.The men of Israel rushed out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, slaughtering them along the way to a point below Beth Kar.Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying,“ Thus far the Lord has helped us.”

All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

The Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid of them, because by this time tomorrow I will hand all of them, slain, over to Israel. You are to hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.”

Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the Lord relented because of their groaning under those who oppressed and afflicted them.

But the Lord said to Gideon,“ There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there. If I say,‘ This one shall go with you,’ he shall go; but if I say,‘ This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”So Gideon took the men down to the water. There the Lord told him,“ Separate those who lap the water with their tongues as a dog laps from those who kneel down to drink.”Three hundred of them drank from cupped hands, lapping like dogs. All the rest got down on their knees to drink.The Lord said to Gideon,“ With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.”

All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
