SelahDeal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,Who were destroyed at En dor, Who became like dung for the ground.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, And all their leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,Who said,“ Let’s possess for ourselves The pastures of God.”My God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind.Like fire that burns the forest, And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire,So pursue them with Your heavy gale, And terrify them with Your storm.Fill their faces with dishonor, So that they will seek Your name, Lord.May they be ashamed and dismayed forever, And may they be humiliated and perish,So that they will know that You alone, whose name is the Lord, Are the Most High over all the earth.

God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You have covered my head on the day of battle.

I will clothe his enemies with shame, But upon himself his crown will gleam.”

May those be ashamed and humiliated together Who seek my life to destroy it; May those be turned back and dishonored Who delight in my hurt.

Then Jonathan said to the young man who was carrying his armor,“ Come, and let’s cross over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men; perhaps the Lord will work for us, because the Lord is not limited to saving by many or by few!”His armor bearer said to him,“ Do everything that is in your heart; turn yourself to it, and here I am with you, as your heart desires.”Then Jonathan said,“ Behold, we are going to cross over to the men and reveal ourselves to them.If they say to us,‘ Wait until we come to you’; then we will stand in our place and not go up to them.But if they say,‘ Come up to us,’ then we will go up, for the Lord has handed them over to us; and this shall be the sign to us.”

And the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not fear them, for I have handed them over to you; not one of them will stand against you.”So Joshua came upon them suddenly by marching all night from Gilgal.And the Lord brought them into confusion before Israel, and He struck them down in a great defeat at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent to Beth horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

And I will establish a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, so that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, nor will malicious people oppress them anymore as previously,

So the sons of Israel said to Samuel,“ Do not stop crying out to the Lord our God for us, that He will save us from the hand of the Philistines!”Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord; and Samuel cried out to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered him.Now Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, and the Philistines advanced to battle Israel. But the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day against the Philistines and confused them, so that they were struck down before Israel.And the men of Israel came out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and killed them as far as below Beth car.Then Samuel took a stone and placed it between Mizpah and Shen, and named it Ebenezer, saying,“ So far the Lord has helped us.”

and that this entire assembly may know that the Lord does not save by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will hand you over to us!”

Yet the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid because of them, for tomorrow at this time I am going to turn all of them over to Israel as good as dead; you shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who tormented and oppressed them.

Then the Lord said to Gideon,“ The people are still too many; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there. So it shall be that he of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall go with you,’ he shall go with you; but everyone of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”So he brought the people down to the water. Then the Lord said to Gideon,“ You shall put everyone who laps the water with his tongue as a dog laps in one group, and everyone who kneels down to drink in another.”Now the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people kneeled down to drink water.And the Lord said to Gideon,“ I will save you with the three hundred men who lapped, and will hand the Midianites over to you; so have all the other people go, each man to his home.”

Joshua captured all these kings and their lands at one time, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
