SelahDo to them as you did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,who were destroyed at En-dor, who became dung for the ground.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,who said,“ Let us take possession for ourselves of the pastures of God.”O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind.As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze,so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane!Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O Lord.Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever; let them perish in disgrace,that they may know that you alone, whose name is the Lord, are the Most High over all the earth.

O Lord, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in the day of battle.

His enemies I will clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine.”

Let those be put to shame and disappointed altogether who seek to snatch away my life; let those be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt!

And this shall be the sign to us.”

And the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands. Not a man of them shall stand before you.”So Joshua came upon them suddenly, having marched up all night from Gilgal.And the Lord threw them into a panic before Israel, who struck them with a great blow at Gibeon and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. And violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly,

And the people of Israel said to Samuel,“ Do not cease to cry out to the Lord our God for us, that he may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”So Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. And Samuel cried out to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered him.As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to attack Israel. But the Lord thundered with a mighty sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were defeated before Israel.And the men of Israel went out from Mizpah and pursued the Philistines and struck them, as far as below Beth-car.Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Ebenezer; for he said,“ Till now the Lord has helped us.”

and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hand.”

And the Lord said to Joshua,“ Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel. You shall hamstring their horses and burn their chariots with fire.”

Whenever the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge, and he saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge. For the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who afflicted and oppressed them.

And the Lord said to Gideon,“ The people are still too many. Take them down to the water, and I will test them for you there, and anyone of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall go with you,’ shall go with you, and anyone of whom I say to you,‘ This one shall not go with you,’ shall not go.”So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon,“ Every one who laps the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set by himself. Likewise, every one who kneels down to drink.”And the number of those who lapped, putting their hands to their mouths, was 300 men, but all the rest of the people knelt down to drink water.And the Lord said to Gideon,“ With the 300 men who lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hand, and let all the others go every man to his home.”

And Joshua captured all these kings and their land at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.
