And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thy hands; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.Joshua therefore came upon them suddenly; for he went up from Gilgal all the night.And Jehovah discomfited them before Israel, and he slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them by the way of the ascent of Beth- horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

And I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,

And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto Jehovah our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt- offering unto Jehovah: and Samuel cried unto Jehovah for Israel; and Jehovah answered him.And as Samuel was offering up the burnt- offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel; but Jehovah thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten down before Israel.And the men of Israel went out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth- car.Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben- ezer, saying, Hitherto hath Jehovah helped us.

and that all this assembly may know that Jehovah saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is Jehovah’s, and he will give you into our hand.

And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to- morrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hock their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

And when Jehovah raised them up judges, then Jehovah was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented Jehovah because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

And Jehovah said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.So he brought down the people unto the water: and Jehovah said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.And Jehovah said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thy hand; and let all the people go every man unto his place.

And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because Jehovah, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.
