爾奚掩面、忘我所受之苦與虐兮、

奚棄予如遺、不顧我憂患兮、

因何掩面不顧、因何忘我所遭之苦難、所受之欺凌、

興矣吾恩主。奚為尚睡着。興矣毋永棄。我將淪死谷。

Why do you turn your face away from us? Why do you forget our pain and troubles?

Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?

Why do you look the other way? Why do you ignore our suffering and oppression?

Why do you hide and forget our affliction and oppression?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

Why do You hide Yourself and forget our affliction and oppression?

Why do you look the other way, and ignore the way we are oppressed and mistreated?

Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?

“ I will hide my face from them,” he said,“ and see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.

Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever.

Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.They called out in a loud voice,“ How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”

I say to God my Rock,“ Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?”

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?

Do not ignore the clamor of your adversaries, the uproar of your enemies, which rises continually.

During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God.God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.

Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel,“ My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”?Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

He says to himself,“ God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.”
