爾奚掩面、忘我所受之苦與虐兮、

奚棄予如遺、不顧我憂患兮、

因何掩面不顧、因何忘我所遭之苦難、所受之欺凌、

興矣吾恩主。奚為尚睡着。興矣毋永棄。我將淪死谷。

Why do you hide your face and forget our misery and oppression?

Why do you turn your face away from us? Why do you forget our pain and troubles?

Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression?

Why do you look the other way? Why do you ignore our suffering and oppression?

Why do you hide and forget our affliction and oppression?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, And forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

Why do you look the other way, and ignore the way we are oppressed and mistreated?

Why do You hide Your face and consider me Your enemy?

He said:“ I will hide My face from them; I will see what will become of them, for they are a perverse generation— unfaithful children.

Do not give the life of Your dove to beasts; do not forget the lives of Your poor people forever.

Lord, why do You stand so far away? Why do You hide in times of trouble?

Vindicate me, God, and defend my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from the deceitful and unjust man.For You are the God of my refuge. Why have You rejected me? Why must I go about in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?Send Your light and Your truth; let them lead me. Let them bring me to Your holy mountain, to Your dwelling place.Then I will come to the altar of God, to God, my greatest joy. I will praise You with the lyre, God, my God.

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the people slaughtered because of God’s word and the testimony they had.They cried out with a loud voice:“ Lord, the One who is holy and true, how long until You judge and avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?”

I will say to God, my rock,“ Why have You forgotten me? Why must I go about in sorrow because of the enemy’s oppression?”

Lord, how long will You forget me? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

Do not forget the clamor of Your adversaries, the tumult of Your opponents that goes up constantly.

After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned because of their difficult labor, and they cried out; and their cry for help ascended to God because of the difficult labor.So God heard their groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Jacob, why do you say, and Israel, why do you assert:“ My way is hidden from the Lord, and my claim is ignored by my God”?Do you not know? Have you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never grows faint or weary; there is no limit to His understanding.

He says to himself,“ God has forgotten; He hides His face and will never see.”
