And you shall keep this event as an ordinance for you and your children forever.When you enter the land which the Lord will give you, as He has promised, you shall keep this rite.And when your children say to you,‘ What does this rite mean to you?’then you shall say,‘ It is a Passover sacrifice to the Lord because He passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt when He struck the Egyptians, but spared our homes.’ ” And the people bowed low and worshiped.

They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do today; A father tells his sons about Your faithfulness.

For that reason it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord,“ Waheb in Suphah, And the wadis of the Arnon,And the slope of the wadis That extends to the site of Ar, And leans to the border of Moab.”From there they continued to Beer, that is the well where the Lord said to Moses,“ Assemble the people, that I may give them water.”

For that reason those who use proverbs say,“ Come to Heshbon! Let it be built! So let the city of Sihon be established.For a fire spread from Heshbon, A flame from the town of Sihon; It devoured Ar of Moab, The dominant heights of the Arnon.Woe to you, Moab! You are destroyed, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, To an Amorite king, Sihon.But we have shot them down with arrows, Heshbon is destroyed as far as Dibon, Then we have laid waste as far as Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”

And even when I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.

“ When your son asks you in time to come, saying,‘ What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’
