因為身體的操練、益處還少；惟獨敬虔、各方面都有益處，有今生和來生之應許。

永恆主啊，不要遂惡人的心願！不要使他們所計謀的成功哦！（細拉）圍困我的人昂首自高；願他們嘴脣下的毒害淹沒了他們。

惡人窺伺着義人，想法子要殺死他。永恆主卻不撇棄他於惡人手中，當審判時也不定他為惡。

而援救他們的性命脫離死亡，使他們在饑荒中得以存活。

蒙永恆主祝福的必擁有地土；受他咒詛的必被剪除。

凡敬畏永恆主、循他道路行的人、有福啊！你喫你親手勞碌得來的，你必有福，亨通順利。你妻子在你內室、像多結果子的葡萄樹；你兒女圍繞你的桌子、好像橄欖栽子。看哪，敬畏永恆主的人一定這樣蒙賜福。永恆主必從錫安賜福與你。儘你一生的日子你必看見耶路撒冷享的福利。願你看見你兒女的兒女。願平安興隆歸於以色列。

他怎樣援救了你脫離捕鳥人的機檻，脫離毁滅人的陷阱；他用他自己的翎翼掩護着你；你避難於他的翅膀底下；他的忠信乃是盾牌圓楯。你不怕黑夜中的恐怖，白日間的飛箭；不怕幽暗中流行的瘟疫，或中午間滅人的毒病。雖有千人仆倒在你身旁，萬人倒斃在你右邊，這災也不能觸害着你。
