For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me.

There are more troubles all around me than I can count. My sins have caught up with me, and I can’t see any longer. My sins are more than the hairs of my head. I have lost all hope.

For evils have encompassed me beyond number; my iniquities have overtaken me, and I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me.

疚深形顦顇。罪多骨震驚。

身心雖枯竭。靈魂永有託。

呼籲兮力盡。喉舌兮焦乾。俟主兮不至。望眼兮欲穿。

小子知趨避。福祿盡在茲。

曩日罹危難。羅網周圍布。憂心信如結。性命瀕陰府。

稅吏遙立、弗敢仰視、惟拊膺曰：「求主憐我罪人！」予實語爾、斯人成義而歸、遠勝於法利塞人矣。蓋自高者必見抑、自卑者必見升也。』

蓋基督亦曾為眾人之罪而死矣。彼以義者之身、而為諸不義者舍命、欲引吾人歸順天主耳。然彼之肉身雖被處死、而其神靈則生、

天德動搖、大難臨迫、人人危懼、倉皇喪魄；

溯自予之有生兮。向承吾主之恩撫。即予之尚在胎中兮。主亦未始非予之所怙。今大難已臨而援手無人兮。吾主寧能捐棄而不顧。健牡紛紛兮。圍我周匝。來自巴珊兮。洶洶相逼。猛如餓獅兮。張口欲食。體渙解兮骨脫。心消融兮如蠟。喉焦如礫兮舌貼齶。身被委棄兮轉溝壑。惡犬環縈兮。群小蜂聚。手與足兮洞穿。骨嶙峋兮可數。眾人旁觀兮。舉瞪目而視予。分我外衣兮。鬮我內服。

且吾人之所有、非一不能體恤吾人荏弱之大司祭也。彼實身受百般磨練一如吾人第無罪耳。
