增虛之事既多、於人有何益哉、人之畢生、虛度之日如影、何者有益於彼、孰其知之、逝世之後、日下將有何事、孰能告之、

傳道者曰、虛空之虛空、萬事虛空、○

勿求何以食、何以飲、亦勿縈擾、

不足為糧者、胡權金以市之、不能果腹者、胡勤勞以得之、其謹聽我、而食嘉肴、且飫肥甘、致心悅懌、

彼雖積金如塵、備衣如土、然彼備之、而義人衣之、無辜者分其金、

爾曹夙興晏寢、勞苦謀食、俱係徒然、上帝所愛者、偃息之時、錫以綏安兮、

豈可注目虛無、蓋貨財誠生羽翼、如鷹飛戾天、

彼必見智者死、愚者蠢者偕亡、其財遺於他人兮、其心以為家室恆存、第宅留至萬代、遂以己名名其地兮、

我見日下所為之事、悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、

且積金銀、及諸王諸州之珍寶、又得伶人歌女、及人所悅者、姬妾眾多、

蓋曰、世人如草、其榮如花、草枯花謝、

我轉觀日下之虛空、有人孤獨無侶、無子嗣、無昆弟、而勞力不息、貨財不饜於目、自謂為誰勞力、不享福祉、斯亦虛空、乃苦任也、

蓋貨財不永存、冠冕豈世襲乎、

善人遺業於子孫、罪人積財歸義者、

我遂惡生、因於日下經營、乃為煩惱、悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、我惡我於日下勞力操作、蓋所得者、必遺於我後也、彼為智為愚、孰克知之、我於日下以智勞力操作者、彼必主之、斯亦虛空、我遂轉念、於日下勞力之操作、使心失望、有以智識技能、勞而得者、遺於未勞者為業、斯亦虛空、害莫大焉、

馬大以供事多而心紛、詣耶穌曰、主、我姊妹遺我一人供事、爾不為意乎、請命之助我、主語之曰、馬大馬大、爾因多端思慮煩擾、然所需者一而已、馬利亞已擇善業、而莫之奪也、

爾金銀銹矣、其銹將為證於爾、且如火而蝕爾肉、爾已積財於末日也、
