When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin, you consume their wealth like a moth— surely everyone is but a breath.

In truth, the Lord GOD will help me; who will condemn me? Indeed, all of them will wear out like a garment; a moth will devour them.

This is why many are sick and ill among you, and many have fallen asleep.If we were properly judging ourselves, we would not be judged,but when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

My skin blackens and flakes off, and my bones burn with fever.

For we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.For all our days ebb away under your wrath; we end our years like a sigh.Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away.

for the Lord disciplines the one he loves and punishes every son he receives.

LORD, do not punish me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.For your arrows have sunk into me, and your hand has pressed down on me.There is no soundness in my body because of your indignation; there is no health in my bones because of my sin.For my iniquities have flooded over my head; they are a burden too heavy for me to bear.My wounds are foul and festering because of my foolishness.I am bent over and brought very low; all day long I go around in mourning.For my insides are full of burning pain, and there is no soundness in my body.I am faint and severely crushed; I groan because of the anguish of my heart.

As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be zealous and repent.

So I am like rot to Ephraim and like decay to the house of Judah.

how much more those who dwell in clay houses, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed like a moth!
