I said,“ I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”

How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.

Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble.

If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.

If you do this, then the Lord will keep the promise he made to me. He told me,‘ If your descendants live as they should and follow me faithfully with all their heart and soul, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’

Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips.

Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth.And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong.In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish,but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.

Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.

Here is a list of their names and their work:From the sons of Asaph, there were Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah. They worked under the direction of their father, Asaph, who proclaimed God’s messages by the king’s orders.From the sons of Jeduthun, there were Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six in all. They worked under the direction of their father, Jeduthun, who proclaimed God’s messages to the accompaniment of the lyre, offering thanks and praise to the Lord.From the sons of Heman, there were Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth.All these were the sons of Heman, the king’s seer, for God had honored him with fourteen sons and three daughters.All these men were under the direction of their fathers as they made music at the house of the Lord. Their responsibilities included the playing of cymbals, harps, and lyres at the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman reported directly to the king.

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

So those who are smart keep their mouths shut, for it is an evil time.
