我謂必謹我行、免舌干咎、惡人當前、必箝我口兮、

予飭我躬、謹我行、不以舌取戾、惡人在側、當箝口而慎言兮。

我嘗云、我必謹慎行為、免舌犯罪、當惡人在前、我必封閉我口、

I said,“ I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”

I said,“ I will be careful about how I live. I will not sin by what I say. I will keep my mouth closed when I am near sinful people.”

I said to myself,“ I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say. I will hold my tongue when the ungodly are around me.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways so that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

I said,“ I will keep watch over my ways So that I do not sin with my tongue; I will keep watch over my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.”

I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.

[ Beth] How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.

Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying,‘ If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea creature, can be tamed and has been tamed by mankind,but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.

Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the order of the king.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.
