我说：“我要谨守我的道路，免得犯口舌之罪。恶人还在我面前的时候，我要用笼套约束我的口。”

我曾说：“我要谨慎我的言行，免得我舌头犯罪；恶人在我面前的时候，我要用嚼环勒住我的口。”

我說：「我要謹守我的道路，免得犯口舌之罪。惡人還在我面前的時候，我要用籠套約束我的口。」

我謂必謹我行、免舌干咎、惡人當前、必箝我口兮、

予飭我躬、謹我行、不以舌取戾、惡人在側、當箝口而慎言兮。

我嘗云、我必謹慎行為、免舌犯罪、當惡人在前、我必封閉我口、

I said,“ I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth while in the presence of the wicked.”

I said,“ I will be careful about how I live. I will not sin by what I say. I will keep my mouth closed when I am near sinful people.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.”

I said to myself,“ I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say. I will hold my tongue when the ungodly are around me.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways so that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

I said,“ I will keep watch over my ways So that I do not sin with my tongue; I will keep watch over my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence.”

I said,“ I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.”

I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.

I said,“ I will guard my ways so that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

I decided,“ I will watch what I say and make sure I do not sin with my tongue. I will put a muzzle over my mouth while in the presence of an evil man.”

I said,“ I will watch my ways, so that I don’t sin with my tongue. I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me.”

少年人如何保持自己的行为纯洁呢？就是要遵守你的话语！

保守自己的口与舌的，就保守自己的灵魂免受患难。

如果有人自以为是虔诚的，却不克制自己的舌头，反而欺骗自己的心，这个人的虔诚就是虚妄的。

耶和华啊，求你为我的口设立看守，求你谨守我嘴唇的门！

实际上，我们每一个人在很多事上都会跌倒。如果有人在言语上不跌倒，这个人就是一个成熟的人，也能够克制全身。我们如果把嚼子放在马嘴里，使它们服从，就可以驾驭它们的全身。再看船只，虽然它那么大，又被狂风吹逐，但是无论舵手的意图想去哪里，它都能被小小的舵来驾驭。照样，舌头虽然是身体上一个小小的部分，却能大大地自夸。看哪，那么小的火，能点燃那么大的森林！舌头是火，它在我们身体的各部分中，是个不公义的世界；它玷污全身，焚烧人生的路程，而且自己却被地狱焚烧。原来，各类野兽、飞禽、爬行动物和水族都能被制伏，也已经被人类制伏了，可是没有人能制伏舌头；它是不止息的邪恶，充满着致死的毒。

你们要把握机会，对外面的人靠智慧行事。

我的灵魂安静，唯独等候神，我的救恩从他而来。

因此，我们必须更加留心所听过的事，免得随流漂去。

他就当谨守舌头不出恶言，谨守嘴唇不说欺诈的话。

你要度量脚下的路径，你一切的道路就会被确立。你不要偏右，也不要偏左，要使你的脚离开恶事。

他们说：“我们要靠舌头强盛，我们的嘴唇是自己的，谁是我们的主呢？”

我向着神发声，我呼求；我向着神发声，他就倾听。

他们讥讽、嘲笑，怀着恶意说欺压人的话。他们说话出于高傲；他们开口亵渎上天，他们的舌头殃及全地。

生与死都在舌头的权下；喜爱它的必食其果。
