惟耶和華是賴、望其庇佑兮、惡者亨通、謀為得成、爾心毋為不平兮。

爾當默然倚賴主、仰望主、莫因惡人亨通、惡謀成就、心懷不平、

應向天主前。默默披心腹。莫因小人達。中心懷不服。

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act. Don’t be upset when other people succeed. Don’t be upset when they carry out their evil plans.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the person who carries out evil plans.

Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation[ is] from him.

Say not thou, I will recompense evil;[ but] wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

For the vision[ is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

The LORD[ is] good unto them that wait for him, to the soul[ that] seeketh him.[ It is] good that[ a man] should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him[ cometh] my salvation.

For I was envious at the foolish,[ when] I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For[ there are] no bands in their death: but their strength[ is] firm.They[ are] not in trouble[ as other] men; neither are they plagued like[ other] men.Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them[ as] a garment.Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.They are corrupt, and speak wickedly[ concerning] oppression: they speak loftily.They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full[ cup] are wrung out to them.And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?Behold, these[ are] the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase[ in] riches.Verily I have cleansed my heart[ in] vain, and washed my hands in innocency.For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.

Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous.

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for[ he that is] higher than the highest regardeth; and[ there be] higher than they.

For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done[ it], and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant[ man]:And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs[ that are] left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.Their houses[ are] safe from fear, neither[ is] the rod of God upon them.Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.What[ is] the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?Lo, their good[ is] not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and[ how oft] cometh their destruction upon them![ God] distributeth sorrows in his anger.They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know[ it].His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.For what pleasure[ hath] he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?Shall[ any] teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices[ which] ye wrongfully imagine against me.For ye say, Where[ is] the house of the prince? and where[ are] the dwelling places of the wicked?Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him[ what] he hath done?Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as[ there are] innumerable before him.How then comfort ye me in vain, seeing in your answers there remaineth falsehood?

I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings,[ to have been] continually before me.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
