緘默於耶和華前、忍以望之、人之道途通達、人之惡謀得成、勿為之生煩擾兮、

惟耶和華是賴、望其庇佑兮、惡者亨通、謀為得成、爾心毋為不平兮。

爾當默然倚賴主、仰望主、莫因惡人亨通、惡謀成就、心懷不平、

應向天主前。默默披心腹。莫因小人達。中心懷不服。

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act. Don’t be upset when other people succeed. Don’t be upset when they carry out their evil plans.

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the person who carries out evil plans.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains.You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.For,“ Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay;

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Do not say,“ I will repay evil”; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.

For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end— it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.

Righteous are you, O Lord, when I complain to you; yet I would plead my case before you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive?

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel,“ In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,

I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.

For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek.They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment.Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies.They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them.And they say,“ How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches.All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence.For all the day long I have been stricken and rebuked every morning.

At that time Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,“ Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Then they said to him,“ What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?” For the sea grew more and more tempestuous.

If you see in a province the oppression of the poor and the violation of justice and righteousness, do not be amazed at the matter, for the high official is watched by a higher, and there are yet higher ones over them.

For he says:“ By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones.My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.”

Why do the wicked live, reach old age, and grow mighty in power?Their offspring are established in their presence, and their descendants before their eyes.Their houses are safe from fear, and no rod of God is upon them.Their bull breeds without fail; their cow calves and does not miscarry.They send out their little boys like a flock, and their children dance.They sing to the tambourine and the lyre and rejoice to the sound of the pipe.They spend their days in prosperity, and in peace they go down to Sheol.They say to God,‘ Depart from us! We do not desire the knowledge of your ways.What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? And what profit do we get if we pray to him?’Behold, is not their prosperity in their hand? The counsel of the wicked is far from me.“ How often is it that the lamp of the wicked is put out? That their calamity comes upon them? That God distributes pains in his anger?That they are like straw before the wind, and like chaff that the storm carries away?You say,‘ God stores up their iniquity for their children.’ Let him pay it out to them, that they may know it.Let their own eyes see their destruction, and let them drink of the wrath of the Almighty.For what do they care for their houses after them, when the number of their months is cut off?Will any teach God knowledge, seeing that he judges those who are on high?One dies in his full vigor, being wholly at ease and secure,his pails full of milk and the marrow of his bones moist.Another dies in bitterness of soul, never having tasted of prosperity.They lie down alike in the dust, and the worms cover them.“ Behold, I know your thoughts and your schemes to wrong me.For you say,‘ Where is the house of the prince? Where is the tent in which the wicked lived?’Have you not asked those who travel the roads, and do you not accept their testimonythat the evil man is spared in the day of calamity, that he is rescued in the day of wrath?Who declares his way to his face, and who repays him for what he has done?When he is carried to the grave, watch is kept over his tomb.The clods of the valley are sweet to him; all mankind follows after him, and those who go before him are innumerable.How then will you comfort me with empty nothings? There is nothing left of your answers but falsehood.”

Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me.

“ And the king shall do as he wills. He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak astonishing things against the God of gods. He shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done.
