Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act. Don’t be upset when other people succeed. Don’t be upset when they carry out their evil plans.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!

Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.You also must be patient. Strengthen your hearts, because the Lord’s coming is near.Brothers and sisters, do not complain about one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door!Brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name as an example of suffering and patience.See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job’s endurance and have seen the outcome that the Lord brought about— the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.For yet in a very little while, the Coming One will come and not delay.

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the LORD.

Rest in God alone, my soul, for my hope comes from him.

Don’t say,“ I will avenge this evil!” Wait on the LORD, and he will rescue you.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it testifies about the end and will not lie. Though it delays, wait for it, since it will certainly come and not be late.

I waited patiently for the LORD, and he turned to me and heard my cry for help.

The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the person who seeks him.It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the LORD.

I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

You will be righteous, LORD, even if I bring a case against you. Yet, I wish to contend with you: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the treacherous live at ease?

For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said:“ You will be delivered by returning and resting; your strength will lie in quiet confidence. But you are not willing.”

I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob. I will wait for him.

One of its heads appeared to be fatally wounded, but its fatal wound was healed. The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast.They worshiped the dragon because he gave authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying,“ Who is like the beast? Who is able to wage war against it?”The beast was given a mouth to utter boasts and blasphemies. It was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.It began to speak blasphemies against God: to blaspheme his name and his dwelling— those who dwell in heaven.And it was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them. It was also given authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation.All those who live on the earth will worship it, everyone whose name was not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered.If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen.If anyone is to be taken captive, into captivity he goes. If anyone is to be killed with a sword, with a sword he will be killed. This calls for endurance and faithfulness from the saints.

For I envied the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked.They have an easy time until they die, and their bodies are well fed.They are not in trouble like others; they are not afflicted like most people.Therefore, pride is their necklace, and violence covers them like a garment.Their eyes bulge out from fatness; the imaginations of their hearts run wild.They mock, and they speak maliciously; they arrogantly threaten oppression.They set their mouths against heaven, and their tongues strut across the earth.Therefore his people turn to them and drink in their overflowing words.The wicked say,“ How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?”Look at them— the wicked! They are always at ease, and they increase their wealth.Did I purify my heart and wash my hands in innocence for nothing?For I am afflicted all day long and punished every morning.

On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel:“ Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will calm down for us?” For the sea was getting worse and worse.

If you see oppression of the poor and perversion of justice and righteousness in the province, don’t be astonished at the situation, because one official protects another official, and higher officials protect them.

For he said: I have done this by my own strength and wisdom, for I am clever. I abolished the borders of nations and plundered their treasures; like a mighty warrior, I subjugated the inhabitants.My hand has reached out, as if into a nest, to seize the wealth of the nations. Like one gathering abandoned eggs, I gathered the whole earth. No wing fluttered; no beak opened or chirped.

Why do the wicked continue to live, growing old and becoming powerful?Their children are established while they are still alive, and their descendants, before their eyes.Their homes are secure and free of fear; no rod from God strikes them.Their bulls breed without fail; their cows calve and do not miscarry.They let their little ones run around like lambs; their children skip about,singing to the tambourine and lyre and rejoicing at the sound of the flute.They spend their days in prosperity and go down to Sheol in peace.Yet they say to God,“ Leave us alone! We don’t want to know your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him, and what will we gain by pleading with him?”But their prosperity is not of their own doing. The counsel of the wicked is far from me!How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? Does disaster come on them? Does he apportion destruction in his anger?Are they like straw before the wind, like chaff a storm sweeps away?God reserves a person’s punishment for his children. Let God repay the person himself, so that he may know it.Let his own eyes see his demise; let him drink from the Almighty’s wrath!For what does he care about his family once he is dead, when the number of his months has run out?Can anyone teach God knowledge, since he judges the exalted ones?One person dies in excellent health, completely secure and at ease.His body is well fed, and his bones are full of marrow.Yet another person dies with a bitter soul, having never tasted prosperity.But they both lie in the dust, and worms cover them.I know your thoughts very well, the schemes by which you would wrong me.For you say,“ Where now is the nobleman’s house?” and“ Where are the tents the wicked lived in?”Have you never consulted those who travel the roads? Don’t you accept their reports?Indeed, the evil person is spared from the day of disaster, rescued from the day of wrath.Who would denounce his behavior to his face? Who would repay him for what he has done?He is carried to the grave, and someone keeps watch over his tomb.The dirt on his grave is sweet to him. Everyone follows behind him, and those who go before him are without number.So how can you offer me such futile comfort? Your answers are deceptive.

I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or for your burnt offerings, which are continually before me.

“ Then the king will do whatever he wants. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and he will say outrageous things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, because what has been decreed will be accomplished.
