The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;

Sinful people borrow and don’t pay back. But those who are godly give freely to others.

The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives;

The wicked borrow and never repay, but the godly are generous givers.

The wicked person borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich.

The rich ruleth over the poor; And the borrower is servant to the lender.

He hath dispersed, he hath given to the needy; His righteousness endureth for ever: His horn shall be exalted with honor.

Jehovah will open unto thee his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister.

Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear Jehovah: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two children to be bondmen.And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me; what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thy handmaid hath not anything in the house, save a pot of oil.Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbors, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.And thou shalt go in, and shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and thou shalt set aside that which is full.So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons; they brought the vessels to her, and she poured out.

The sojourner that is in the midst of thee shall mount up above thee higher and higher; and thou shalt come down lower and lower.He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.

In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring ye ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

But the noble deviseth noble things; and in noble things shall he continue.

Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy healing shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of Jehovah shall be thy rearward.Then shalt thou call, and Jehovah will answer; thou shalt cry, and he will say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;and if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then shall thy light rise in darkness, and thine obscurity be as the noonday;

If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless hath not eaten thereof( Nay, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, And her have I guided from my mother’s womb);If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering;If his loins have not blessed me, And if he hath not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep;

And the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren that dwelt in Judæa:

But this I say, He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.Let each man do according as he hath purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.And God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work:as it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever.And he that supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness:ye being enriched in everything unto all liberality, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God.For the ministration of this service not only filleth up the measure of the wants of the saints, but aboundeth also through many thanksgivings unto God;seeing that through the proving of you by this ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution unto them and unto all;while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, long after you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.For there were that said, We, our sons and our daughters, are many: let us get grain, that we may eat and live.Some also there were that said, We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses: let us get grain, because of the dearth.There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute upon our fields and our vineyards.Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage already: neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards.

Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

Beware that there be not a base thought in thy heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto Jehovah against thee, and it be sin unto thee.Thou shalt surely give him, and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thing Jehovah thy God will bless thee in all thy work, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.For the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt surely open thy hand unto thy brother, to thy needy, and to thy poor, in thy land.
