这时候，彼得清醒过来，说：“现在我确实知道主派了他的天使来，救我脱离希律的手和犹太民众所期待的一切事。”

用刀杀了约翰的哥哥雅各。他见这事使犹太人高兴，就又去抓彼得；那时正是除酵节期间。

他对大卫说：“你比我公义，因为你以善待我，我却以恶待你。

有哪一位先知，你们的祖先不逼迫呢？他们杀了那些预言那义者要来的先知，现在你们又成为那义者的出卖者和凶手了。

我父啊，请看！看看你外袍的衣摆就在我手中！我割下了你外袍的衣摆，却没有杀你。你要知道，也要看见我的手中没有恶行或叛逆。尽管你在猎取我的性命，我却没有得罪你。
