Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

So Saul heeded the voice of Jonathan, and Saul swore,“ As the Lord lives, he shall not be killed.”Then Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these things. So Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as in times past.

But Samuel said to Saul,“ I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.

So Saul said,“ I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time,“ You shall be my son-in-law today.”

As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, The Lord shall lead them away With the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel!

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying,“ Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said,“ Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?

But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

Then Saul said,“ I have sinned. Return, my son David. For I will harm you no more, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Indeed I have played the fool and erred exceedingly.”

But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him.

And Samuel said to Saul,“ You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever.But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips. Selah

Then the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard this news, and his anger was greatly aroused.So he took a yoke of oxen and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the territory of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,“ Whoever does not go out with Saul and Samuel to battle, so it shall be done to his oxen.” And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.When he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.And they said to the messengers who came,“ Thus you shall say to the men of Jabesh Gilead:‘ Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have help.’” Then the messengers came and reported it to the men of Jabesh, and they were glad.Therefore the men of Jabesh said,“ Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you may do with us whatever seems good to you.”So it was, on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and killed Ammonites until the heat of the day. And it happened that those who survived were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.Then the people said to Samuel,“ Who is he who said,‘ shall Saul reign over us?’ Bring the men, that we may put them to death.”But Saul said,“ Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the Lord has accomplished salvation in Israel.”
