May the foot of the proud not come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

Do not let arrogant men overtake me, or let evil men make me homeless!

Have mercy on us, Yahweh, have mercy on us, for we have endured much contempt.Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scoffing of those who are at ease, with the contempt of the proud.

May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,who have said,“ With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”“ Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh;“ I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”

Keep me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings,from the wicked who oppress me, my deadly enemies, who surround me.They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly.They have now surrounded us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.Arise, Yahweh, confront him. Cast him down. Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword;from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

The proud have dug pits for me, contrary to your law.

I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul,‘ Bow down, that we may walk over you;’ and you have laid your back as the ground, like a street to those who walk over.”

Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase.

The arrogant mock me excessively, but I don’t swerve from your law.

Ensure your servant’s well- being. Don’t let the proud oppress me.

I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?Even as it is written,“ For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For the king trusts in Yahweh. Through the loving kindness of the Most High, he shall not be moved.Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.

In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion, which can’t be moved, but remains forever.As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so Yahweh surrounds his people from this time forward and forever more.For the scepter of wickedness won’t remain over the allotment of the righteous; so that the righteous won’t use their hands to do evil.

The proud have smeared a lie upon me. With my whole heart, I will keep your precepts.
