毋使彼自鳴得意、肆其吞噬兮、

莫容其心中云、吁哉、我已得如願、莫容其言云、我已吞噬之、

彈冠共相慶。竟將彼吞滅。

敵人都幸災樂禍地譏諷你，他們咬牙切齒地說：「我們吞滅了她！這是我們期待已久的日子！我們終於見到這一天了！」

向我們發怒的時候，我們早已被他們生吞，

耶穌立刻看透了他們的心思，就說：「你們為什麼這樣心裡議論呢？

他們心裡說：「我們要徹底毀滅一切。」於是他們燒毀了境內所有敬拜上帝的地方。

當這一切發生的時候，就應驗了聖經上的話：「死亡被勝利吞滅了。」

求你不要把我與奸惡人一同責罰，他們對鄰居口蜜腹劍。

求你不要讓仇敵抓到我，遂其所願，因為他們誣告我，恐嚇我。

祂說信靠上帝，如果上帝喜悅祂，就讓上帝來救祂吧！因為祂自稱是上帝的兒子。」

願那些哈哈嘲笑我的人羞愧而退。

敵人說，『追啊，追上他們，瓜分他們的財物，盡情地擄掠他們，拔出刀來把他們斬盡殺絕。』

耶和華啊，求你不要讓惡人的願望實現，不要讓他們的陰謀得逞，免得他們狂妄自大。（細拉）

有幾個律法教師坐在那裡，心裡議論說：

上帝從天上施助、拯救我，使迫害我的人蒙羞。上帝必彰顯祂的慈愛和信實。

上帝啊，求你憐憫我，因為仇敵攻擊我，整日迫害我。我的仇敵整日攻擊我，許多人狂妄地迫害我。

我們這座城的人在以色列素來熱愛和平、忠心耿耿，你卻要毀滅這座大城。你為什麼要吞掉耶和華的產業？」

宴會的日子結束後，約伯便派人召來他的兒女，為他們行潔淨禮。他清早起來，為他們每個人獻上燔祭，因為他想：「也許我的孩子們犯了罪，心中褻瀆了上帝。」約伯常常這樣做。
