若喪兄弟友朋、若母死、為之哀懺、匍匐不起兮、

我这样行，好像他是我的朋友，我的弟兄；我屈身悲哀，如同人为母亲哀痛。

I went about mourning as though for my friend or brother. I bowed my head in grief as though weeping for my mother.

So I went around crying as if I were mourning over my friend or relative. I bowed my head in sadness as if I were weeping over my mother.

既近、見城、哭、曰、今猶為爾日、及是時、而知關爾平安之事、則幸、過此、隱於爾目矣、

我躬拳曲、終日殷憂兮、

大闢緣掃羅及其子約拿單之故、乃作悲歌、篇名曰弓、命人教猶大族、其歌載於耶述紀。歌曰、以色列之麀亡於崇坵、英武者其殞乎。毋播於迦特邑、毋揚於亞實基倫衢、恐非利士人之女、聞之懽然、恐未受割者之女、聆而欣喜。掃羅素為英武、在吉破山遺棄其干、雖沐以膏、無異凡民、故願在彼、露不零、雨不降、亦願在彼田無所產、祭品不獻。約拿單執弓、往殺敵軍、流其血而不郤退、掃羅執劍、往擊英武、剖其脂而不徒歸。掃羅及約拿單、生存之日、相愛相悅、雖至死亡、亦弗離逖。彼二人者疾於鷹、猛於獅。以色列眾女、當為掃羅哀哭、緣昔掃羅贈以艷麗絳衣、加以金飾文繡。諸英武亡於行伍、約拿單死於崇坵、豈不哀哉。約拿單我兄歟、昔使我悅樂、蒙其眷愛、迥異尋常、甚於婦女之愛我、今我為之痛心不已。嗚呼哀哉。英武其亡哉、戰具其棄哉。

大闢遂裂衣、僕從亦裂衣、哭泣禁食、迨夕乃止、因掃羅及其子約拿單、與耶和華之民、暨以色列眾、殲滅於刃故也。

以撒導利百加入母撒拉之幕娶以為妻、愛之甚篤、蓋自母沒後、至此始獲慰藉。
