于是彼得被囚在监里，教会却为他切切祷告神。希律将要提他出来的前一夜，彼得被两条铁链锁着，睡在两个士兵当中；门前还有警卫看守。忽然，有主的一个使者显现，牢房里有光照耀；天使拍彼得的肋旁，叫醒了他，说：“快起来！”铁链就从他手上脱落下来。天使对他说：“束上腰带，穿上鞋子。”他就照着做了。天使又对他说：“披上外衣，跟我来。”彼得就出来跟着他走，不知道天使所做是真的，以为见了异象。他们经过了第一层和第二层监牢，就来到往城内的铁门，那门就自动给他们开了。他们出来，走过一条街，忽然天使离开他去了。彼得清醒过来，说：“现在我真知道主差遣他的使者，救我脱离希律的手，和犹太人所期待的一切。”
