莫令我觖望。應使彼吞聲。惡計既受挫。默默歸幽冥。

Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.

Their lips tell lies. Let them be silenced. They speak with pride against those who do right. They make fun of them.

Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous in pride and contempt.

How long will they speak with arrogance? How long will these evil people boast?

“ Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the Lord is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions.

But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said,“ No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”

“ But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars— their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

The people retorted,“ You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?”

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Outside the city are the dogs— the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.

For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

When Paul arrived, the Jewish leaders from Jerusalem gathered around and made many serious accusations they couldn’t prove.

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy, for we have had our fill of contempt.We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud and the contempt of the arrogant.

Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, the members of my household will be called by even worse names!

May the Lord cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues.

Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me.Let burning coals fall down on their heads. Let them be thrown into the fire or into watery pits from which they can’t escape.Don’t let liars prosper here in our land. Cause great disasters to fall on the violent.

They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim their bitter words like arrows.They shoot from ambush at the innocent, attacking suddenly and fearlessly.

And Sennacherib’s officers further mocked the Lord God and his servant Hezekiah, heaping insult upon insult.

Rescue me, O Lord, from liars and from all deceitful people.

But the king will rejoice in God. All who swear to tell the truth will praise him, while liars will be silenced.

Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.

the Lord has spoken this word against him:“ The virgin daughter of Zion despises you and laughs at you. The daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head in derision as you flee.“ Whom have you been defying and ridiculing? Against whom did you raise your voice? At whom did you look with such haughty eyes? It was the Holy One of Israel!By your messengers you have defied the Lord. You have said,‘ With my many chariots I have conquered the highest mountains— yes, the remotest peaks of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars and its finest cypress trees. I have reached its farthest heights and explored its deepest forests.

Because of the sinful things they say, because of the evil that is on their lips, let them be captured by their pride, their curses, and their lies.
