He told them,“ You are not permitted to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.

Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD! I run to you for protection.

Protect me as you would protect the pupil of your eye! Hide me in the shadow of your wings!Protect me from the wicked men who attack me, my enemies who crowd around me for the kill.

Now when the days drew near for him to be taken up, Jesus set out resolutely to go to Jerusalem.

Rise up, LORD! Confront him! Knock him down! Use your sword to rescue me from the wicked man!

As a demonstration of your loyal love, destroy my enemies! Annihilate all who threaten my life, for I am your servant.

So then they tried to seize Jesus, but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

David went on to say,“ As the LORD lives, the LORD himself will strike him down. Either his day will come and he will die, or he will go down into battle and be swept away.

since I know that my tabernacle will soon be removed, because our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this to me.

and said,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul! You must stand before Caesar, and God has graciously granted you the safety of all who are sailing with you.’

For I am already being poured out as an offering, and the time for me to depart is at hand.

I will make you as strong as a wall to these people, a fortified wall of bronze. They will attack you, but they will not be able to overcome you. For I will be with you to rescue you and deliver you,” says the LORD.“ I will deliver you from the power of the wicked. I will free you from the clutches of violent people.”

Just before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that his time had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end.

The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said,“ Have courage, for just as you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.”

“ Now my soul is greatly distressed. And what should I say?‘ Father, deliver me from this hour’? No, but for this very reason I have come to this hour.
