When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors round about, so that in the day of the LORD’S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath mine enemy consumed.

And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, tomorrow thou shalt be slain.So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.And Michal took an image, and laid[ it] in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’[ hair] for his bolster, and covered[ it] with a cloth.And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He[ is] sick.And Saul sent the messengers[ again] to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.And when the messengers were come in, behold,[ there was] an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats’[ hair] for his bolster.And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

That all of you have conspired against me, and[ there is] none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and[ there is] none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

But I[ was] like a lamb[ or] an ox[ that] is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me,[ saying], Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

My soul[ is] among lions:[ and] I lie[ even among] them that are set on fire,[ even] the sons of men, whose teeth[ are] spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy[ and] fear[ is] on every side.

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill[ him].

Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow[ are] in the midst of it.

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which[ is] on the south of Jeshimon?Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part[ shall be] to deliver him into the king’s hand.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.Mine enemies would daily swallow[ me] up: for[ they be] many that fight against me, O thou most High.What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this[ fellow] perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men’s words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magormissabib.For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold[ it]: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
