You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead; you spared me from going down to the pit.

O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

For Your graciousness toward me is great, And You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol.

He has redeemed my soul from going to the pit, And my life will see the light.’

For You have saved my soul from death, Indeed my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God In the light of the living.

You who have shown me many troubles and distresses Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

I waited patiently for the Lord; And He reached down to me and heard my cry.He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.

Behold, for my own welfare I had great bitterness; But You have kept my soul from the pit of nothingness, For You have hurled all my sins behind Your back.For Sheol cannot thank You, Death cannot praise You; Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, And my feet from stumbling.

So I said,‘ I have been cast out of Your sight. Nevertheless I will look again toward Your holy temple.’Water encompassed me to the point of death. The deep flowed around me, Seaweed was wrapped around my head.I descended to the base of the mountains. The earth with its bars was around me forever, But You have brought up my life from the pit, Lord my God.

“ A person is also rebuked by pain in his bed, And with constant complaint in his bones,So that his life loathes bread, And his soul, food that he should crave.His flesh wastes away from sight, And his bones, which were not seen, stick out.Then his soul comes near to the pit, And his life to those who bring death.
