When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.And at three Jesus cried out with a loud voice,“ Eloi, Eloi, lemá sabachtháni?” which is translated,“ My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”When some of those standing there heard this, they said,“ See, he’s calling for Elijah.”

God, you have rejected us; you have broken us down; you have been angry. Restore us!

He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

Therefore, our God, hear the prayer and the petitions of your servant. Make your face shine on your desolate sanctuary for the Lord’s sake.
