just as it is written,“ Look, I am laying in Zion a stone that will cause people to stumble and a rock that will make them fall, yet the one who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

For it says in scripture,“ Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will never be put to shame.”

Israel will be delivered once and for all by the LORD; you will never again be ashamed or humiliated.

In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated!

For the scripture says,“ Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! Vindicate me by rescuing me!

Let none who rely on you be disgraced because of me, O sovereign LORD and king! Let none who seek you be ashamed because of me, O God of Israel!For I suffer humiliation for your sake and am thoroughly disgraced.

My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me!Certainly none who rely on you will be humiliated. Those who deal in treachery will be thwarted and humiliated.

Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel was one of those who prayed to him. They prayed to the LORD and he answered them.He spoke to them from a pillar of cloud; they obeyed his regulations and the ordinance he gave them.

The Israelites cried out for help to the LORD, because Sisera had nine hundred chariots with iron-rimmed wheels, and he cruelly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years.

Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help.

You do to us as you see fit, but deliver us today!”They threw away the foreign gods they owned and worshiped the LORD. Finally the LORD grew tired of seeing Israel suffer so much.

Israel was so severely weakened by Midian that the Israelites cried out to the LORD for help.
