Romans 4:18-22

Hebrews 11:8-32
By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to a place he was going to receive as an inheritance. Then Samuel took a young lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. He cried out to the Lord on behalf of Israel, and the Lord answered him.Samuel was offering the burnt offering as the Philistines drew near to fight against Israel. The Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines that day and threw them into such confusion that they fled before Israel.Then the men of Israel charged out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines striking them down all the way to a place below Beth-car.Afterward, Samuel took a stone and set it upright between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, explaining,“ The Lord has helped us to this point.”

Indeed, I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two camps.Please rescue me from the hand of my brother Esau, for I am afraid of him; otherwise, he may come and attack me, the mothers, and their children.You have said,‘ I will cause you to prosper, and I will make your offspring like the sand of the sea, which cannot be counted.’”
