Then he angrily speaks to them and terrifies them in his rage, saying,

but he will judge the poor righteously and execute justice for the oppressed of the land. He will strike the land with a scepter from his mouth, and he will kill the wicked with a command from his lips.

The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his anger.He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; he will crush leaders over the entire world.

He sent his burning anger against them: fury, indignation, and calamity— a band of deadly messengers.He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them from death but delivered their lives to the plague.

You will make them burn like a fiery furnace when you appear; the LORD will engulf them in his wrath, and fire will devour them.

A sharp sword came from his mouth, so that he might strike the nations with it. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will also trample the winepress of the fierce anger of God, the Almighty.

But bring here these enemies of mine, who did not want me to rule over them, and slaughter them in my presence.’”

I am fiercely angry with the nations that are at ease, for I was a little angry, but they made the destruction worse.

A sound of uproar from the city! A voice from the temple— the voice of the LORD, paying back his enemies what they deserve!

He had seven stars in his right hand; a sharp double-edged sword came from his mouth, and his face was shining like the sun at full strength.

For the days will come on you when your enemies will build a barricade around you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.They will crush you and your children among you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.”

“ Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.Truly I tell you, all these things will come on this generation.

But God says to the wicked:“ What right do you have to recite my statutes and to take my covenant on your lips?You hate instruction and fling my words behind you.When you see a thief, you make friends with him, and you associate with adulterers.You unleash your mouth for evil and harness your tongue for deceit.You sit, maligning your brother, slandering your mother’s son.You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But I will rebuke you and lay out the case before you.“ Understand this, you who forget God, or I will tear you apart, and there will be no one to rescue you.

The king was enraged, and he sent out his troops, killed those murderers, and burned down their city.
