祭司長和全議會尋找假見證控告耶穌，要處死他。

他先找到自己的哥哥西門，對他說：「我們遇見彌賽亞了。」（「彌賽亞」翻出來就是基督。）

你喜愛公義，恨惡罪惡，所以上帝，就是你的上帝，用喜樂油膏你，勝過膏你的同伴。

希律和他的士兵就藐視耶穌，戲弄他，給他穿上華麗的衣服，把他送回彼拉多那裏去。從前希律和彼拉多彼此有仇，在那一天竟成了朋友。

看哪，諸王會合，一同經過。

主耶和華的靈在我身上，因為耶和華用膏膏我，叫我報好信息給貧窮的人，差遣我醫好傷心的人，報告被擄的得釋放，被捆綁的得自由；

耶和華啊，仇敵辱罵，愚頑之輩藐視你的名；求你記念這事。

我尋得我的僕人大衛，用我的聖膏膏他。

約在那時候，希律王下手苦待教會中的一些人，用刀殺了約翰的哥哥雅各。他見猶太人喜歡這事，也去拿住彼得。那時候正是除酵節期間。希律捉了彼得，押在監裏，交給四班士兵看守，每班四個人，企圖要在逾越節後把他提出來，當着百姓辦他。於是彼得被囚在監裏，教會卻為他切切禱告上帝。希律將要提他出來的前一夜，彼得被兩條鐵鏈鎖着，睡在兩個士兵當中；門前還有警衛看守。

在你右邊的主，當他發怒的日子，必打傷列王。

就在那時，有幾個法利賽人來對耶穌說：「離開這裏到別處去吧，因為希律想要殺你。」

沒有人能以智慧、聰明、謀略抵擋耶和華。

現在，君王啊，應當謹慎！世上的審判官哪，要聽勸戒！

不要忘記你敵人的喧鬧，就是那時常上升、起來對抗你之人的喧嘩。

希律見自己被博學之士愚弄，極其憤怒，差人將伯利恆城裏和四境所有的男孩，根據他向博學之士仔細查問到的時間，凡兩歲以內的，都殺盡了。

第二天，官長、長老和文士在耶路撒冷聚集，又有亞那大祭司、該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，和大祭司的親族都在那裏。他們叫使徒站在中間，問他們：「你們憑甚麼能力，奉誰的名做這事呢？」那時，彼得被聖靈充滿，對他們說：「民間的官長和長老啊，

早晨，你們要看見耶和華的榮耀，因為耶和華聽見你們向他所發的怨言了。我們算甚麼，你們竟然向我們發怨言呢？」

上帝所差來的說上帝的話，因為上帝所賜給他的聖靈是沒有限量的。

那時，祭司長和百姓的長老聚集在那稱為該亞法的大祭司的院裏。

恨我的也恨我的父。

你喜愛公義，恨惡罪惡；所以上帝，就是你的上帝，用喜樂油膏你，勝過膏你的同伴。」

他就仆倒在地，聽見有聲音對他說：「掃羅！掃羅！你為甚麼迫害我？」
