黎明、司祭諸長及民間耆老、群議處耶穌以死。

爾所見之十角亦十王也、至今未秉國鈞、後當與獸同享王權、亦只片晷。十王惟具一心、欲將己之權柄統歸於獸、俾合力與羔羊交戰、而羔羊終必克之。羔羊乃萬主之主、萬王之王。凡蒙召承選、忠心耿耿、而與羔羊並肩作戰者、靡有不勝。

其時希祿王肆力摧殘教會同人。既殺若望之兄雅谷伯；見猶太人悅此措施又執伯鐸祿。爾時正為除酵日。希祿既捕伯鐸祿、投於獄中、指派卒四組、每組四人守之。擬於免難節後、提付人民審判。伯鐸祿在獄、教會為之切禱天主。希祿將提伯鐸祿之前夕、伯鐸祿身被二鏈、臥於二卒之中、戍者守之門外；

天主沐以聖神、充以神力、足跡所至仁澤是施、脫人於魔、而賜以康復。以天主恆與之偕也。

佑爾之主震霹靂。世之君王被痛擊。

是日、法利塞數人來告曰：『其速離此、希祿欲殺汝也。』

嗚呼世之侯王兮。盍不及早省悟。鳴呼世之法吏兮。盍不自守法度。

諠嘩徹雲霄。應達天主耳。

當時希祿知為哲士所紿、怒甚；乃按其所告年月、遣人就百利恆及鄰境、凡二歲以下之嬰孩、盡殲之。

翌日、有司、長老、經生會於耶路撒冷、大司祭亞納及蓋法若翰亞力山大與大司祭戚屬咸集、命宗徒立於眾前而問之曰、『爾恃何權、奉何名、以行此乎？』伯鐸祿既感聖神、對曰：

天主所遣者、傳天主之訓、以天主賦以聖神、無有限量故、

斯時、司祭長及民間耆老、方群集於大司祭該法院中

凡惡予者、即惡吾父也。

罪惡爾所厭、正義爾所張；天帝美爾德、膏澤迥異常；』

其身仆地、聞聲曰：『掃羅、掃羅、迫我何甚！』
