The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.

The law that brings respect for the Lord is pure. It lasts forever. The commands the Lord gives are true. All of them are completely right.

Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.Who is the man who delights in life, loving a long life to enjoy what is good?Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech.Turn away from evil and do what is good; seek peace and pursue it.

And what great nation has righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?

“ These are the ordinances that you must set before them:

But when I leave you, the Spirit of the Lord may carry you off to some place I don’t know. Then when I go report to Ahab and he doesn’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the Lord from my youth.

Your righteousness is like the highest mountains; Your judgments, like the deepest sea. Lord, You preserve man and beast.

God, give Your justice to the king and Your righteousness to the king’s son.He will judge Your people with righteousness and Your afflicted ones with justice.

His ways are always secure; Your lofty judgments are beyond his sight; he scoffs at all his adversaries.

Yes, Yahweh, we wait for You in the path of Your judgments. Our desire is for Your name and renown.

Ahab called for Obadiah, who was in charge of the palace. Obadiah was a man who greatly feared the Lordand took 100 prophets and hid them, 50 men to a cave, and provided them with food and water when Jezebel slaughtered the Lord’s prophets.

Then He said,“ Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from Me.”

He will bless those who fear the Lord— small and great alike.

An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked person: There is no dread of God before his eyes,

because His judgments are true and righteous, because He has judged the notorious prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality; and He has avenged the blood of His slaves that was on her hands.

On the third day Joseph said to them,“ I fear God— do this and you will live.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His instructions have good insight. His praise endures forever.Hallelujah! Happy is the man who fears the Lord, taking great delight in His commands.His descendants will be powerful in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.Light shines in the darkness for the upright. I have solemnly sworn to keep Your righteous judgments.

We know that God’s judgment on those who do such things is based on the truth.

The governors who preceded me had heavily burdened the people, taking food and wine from them, as well as a pound of silver. Their subordinates also oppressed the people, but I didn’t do this, because of the fear of God.

I rise at midnight to thank You for Your righteous judgments.

Turn away the disgrace I dread; indeed, Your judgments are good.

Then I heard someone from the altar say: Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.

To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech.

I will praise You with a sincere heart when I learn Your righteous judgments.

They said,“ Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who has a good reputation with the whole Jewish nation, was divinely directed by a holy angel to call you to his house and to hear a message from you.”

Therefore, consider God’s kindness and severity: severity toward those who have fallen but God’s kindness toward you— if you remain in His kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.

as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers’ venom is under their lips.Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.Their feet are swift to shed blood;ruin and wretchedness are in their paths,and the path of peace they have not known.There is no fear of God before their eyes.

I know, Lord, that Your judgments are just and that You have afflicted me fairly.

He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and judgments to Israel.

They sang the song of God’s servant Moses and the song of the Lamb: Great and awe-inspiring are Your works, Lord God, the Almighty; righteous and true are Your ways, King of the Nations.
