But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.

At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock.

“ Immediately after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

Jesus replied,“ You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”

Look up to the skies above, and gaze down on the earth below. For the skies will disappear like smoke, and the earth will wear out like a piece of clothing. The people of the earth will die like flies, but my salvation lasts forever. My righteous rule will never end!

The Lord’s voice will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth will shake. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a strong fortress for the people of Israel.

And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.

When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise:“ Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”

May there be no enemy breaking through our walls, no going into captivity, no cries of alarm in our town squares.Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord.
