有一件事我求過耶和華，我還要尋求；我要一生一世住在耶和華的殿裡，瞻仰他的榮美，在他的殿中求問。因為在我遭難的日子，他必把我藏在他的帳棚裡，把我隱藏在他帳幕的隱密處，又把我高舉在磐石上。

然而耶和華在他的聖殿裡，全地當在他面前肅靜。

耶和華在他的聖殿裡，耶和華的寶座在天上，他的眼睛觀看，他的目光察驗世人。

至於我，我必憑著你豐盛的慈愛，進入你的殿；我要存著敬畏你的心，向你的聖所敬拜。

過了很久，埃及王死了。以色列人在捆鎖中歎息，他們就呼求，在捆鎖中的呼求達到神那裡。

“神真的住在地上嗎？看哪！天和天上的天尚且不能容納你，何況我建造的這殿呢？然而耶和華我的神啊，求你垂顧你僕人的禱告和懇求，垂聽你僕人今天在你面前所作的呼籲和禱告。願你的眼睛晝夜看顧這殿，看顧你所說‘我的名要留在那裡’的地方。願你垂聽你僕人向這地方所發的禱告。你僕人和你的子民以色列向這地方禱告的時候，求你垂聽他們的懇求。求你在天上的居所垂聽，垂聽而赦免。

他說：“阿爸、父啊，你凡事都能作，求你叫這杯離開我。但不要照我的意思，只要照你的旨意。”

於是，在天上神的聖所開了，他的約櫃就在他的聖所中顯現出來。隨即有閃電、響聲、雷轟、地震、大冰雹。
