死亡之苦難、如繩索纏繞我、匪類如波濤驚駭我、

悲我身之遭厄兮。求恩主之矜憐。竟脫我於虎口兮。信慈惠之無邊。

The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead.

When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said,“ I am innocent of this man’s blood. See to it yourselves!”All the people answered,“ His blood be on us and on our children!”

Many bulls surround me; strong ones of Bashan encircle me.They open their mouths against me— lions, mauling and roaring.

For dogs have surrounded me; a gang of evildoers has closed in on me; they pierced my hands and my feet.

While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob with swords and clubs was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of suffering who knew what sickness was. He was like someone people turned away from; he was despised, and we didn’t value him.Yet he himself bore our sicknesses, and he carried our pains; but we in turn regarded him stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted.

They will be horrified; pain and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look at each other, their faces flushed with fear.

Then the water would have engulfed us; the torrent would have swept over us;

He is the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God; let God rescue him now— if he takes pleasure in him! For he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”In the same way even the criminals who were crucified with him taunted him.

The whole city was stirred up, and the people rushed together. They seized Paul, dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.

At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs, as if I were a criminal, to capture me? Every day I used to sit, teaching in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me.

He said to them,“ I am deeply grieved to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with me.”Going a little farther, he fell facedown and prayed,“ My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
