Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil; my mouth has not transgressed.

Look deep down into my heart. Study me carefully at night and test me. You won’t find anything wrong. I have planned nothing evil. My mouth has not said sinful things.

You have tried my heart, you have visited me by night, you have tested me, and you will find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth will not transgress.

The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed. (niv)

if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe— (niv)

When daylight is gone, the murderer rises up, kills the poor and needy, and in the night steals forth like a thief. (niv)

My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. (niv)

May the Lord judge between you and me. And may the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you. (niv)

Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace. (niv)
