厭惡匪類、尊崇敬畏主者、既立誓願、雖受損害、亦不變更、

見惡避若浼。見善共相歡。一言九鼎重。得失非所患。

who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind;

They hate evil people. But they honor those who have respect for the Lord. They keep their promises even when it hurts. They do not change their mind.

in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts.

who despises the one rejected by the LORD but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his word whatever the cost,

A despicable person is despised in his eyes, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;

who despises the one rejected by the Lord but honors those who fear the Lord, who keeps his word whatever the cost,

He despises a reprobate, but honors the LORD’s loyal followers. He makes firm commitments and does not renege on his promise.

A perverse heart shall depart from me: I will know no evil thing.

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; nevertheless I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.O thou king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty:and because of the greatness that he gave him, all the peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew, and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he raised up, and whom he would he put down.But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:and he was driven from the sons of men, and his heart was made like the beasts’, and his dwelling was with the wild asses; he was fed with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; until he knew that the Most High God ruleth in the kingdom of men, and that he setteth up over it whomsoever he will.And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thy heart, though thou knewest all this,but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine from them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified.Then was the part of the hand sent from before him, and this writing was inscribed.And this is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and brought it to an end.TEKEL; thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.PERES; thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain.And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.

My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.For if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, and there come in also a poor man in vile clothing;and ye have regard to him that weareth the fine clothing, and say, Sit thou here in a good place; and ye say to the poor man, Stand thou there, or sit under my footstool;do ye not make distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?Hearken, my beloved brethren; did not God choose them that are poor as to the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to them that love him?But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment- seats?Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which ye are called?Howbeit if ye fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well:but if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.

Let me not, I pray you, respect any man’s person; Neither will I give flattering titles unto any man.For I know not to give flattering titles; Else would my Maker soon take me away.
