用鎖鍊捆住他們的君王，用鐵鐐鎖住他們的權貴，

好用鎖鍊捆他們的君王，用鐵鐐鎖他們的貴臣，

為要用鎖鏈捆住他們的君王，用鐵鐐捆住他們的權貴；

縛其王以鏈、繫顯者以鐵索兮、

列國之王、繫以鐵索、貴顯之臣、囚以桎梏兮、

以縲絏拘其君王、以鐵索繫其貴臣、

世王被鏈索。冢臣加桎梏。

to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron,

Let them put the kings of those nations in chains. Let them put their nobles in iron chains.

But Adoni bezek fled; and they pursued him and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.And Adoni bezek said,“ Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to gather up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.” So they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

Now these are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the sons of Israel defeated beyond the Jordan toward the west, from Baal gad in the Valley of Lebanon even as far as Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir; and Joshua gave it to the tribes of Israel as a possession according to their divisions,

And if they are bound in shackles, And are caught in the snares of misery,

They did so, and brought these five kings out to him from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.When they brought these kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the leaders of the men of war who had gone with him,“ Come forward, put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So they came forward and put their feet on their necks.
