In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters.

By Yahweh’s word, the heavens were made: all their army by the breath of his mouth.He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses.Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.

The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land.

“ You shall say this to them:‘ The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth will perish from the earth, and from under the heavens.’”God has made the earth by his power. He has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens.When he utters his voice, the waters in the heavens roar, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings for the rain, and brings the wind out of his treasuries.

It is he who builds his rooms in the heavens, and has founded his vault on the earth; he who calls for the waters of the sea, and pours them out on the surface of the earth; Yahweh is his name.

“ Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed, and were created!”
