他喜歡的不是馬的力量，他喜悅的不是人的腳力——

不喜馬力、不悅人股兮、

維馬有力、人能疾趨、主不以為悅兮、

馬有大力、非主所悅、人能疾行、非主所喜、

戰馬徒有力。佳兵安足恃。戰馬與佳兵。皆非主所喜。

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

He doesn’t take pleasure in the strength of horses. He doesn’t take delight in the strong legs of warriors.

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,

He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might.

He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; he does not value the power of a warrior.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.

He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.

He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; He does not value the power of a man.

He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior’s strong legs.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they don’t look to the Holy One of Israel, and they don’t seek Yahweh!

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of Yahweh our God.

But Yahweh said to Samuel,“ Don’t look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don’t see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart.”

I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.

But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and will save them by Yahweh their God, and will not save them by bow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.”

There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power.Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness,

“ Have you given the horse might? Have you clothed his neck with a quivering mane?Have you made him to leap as a locust? The glory of his snorting is awesome.He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength. He goes out to meet the armed men.He mocks at fear, and is not dismayed, neither does he turn back from the sword.The quiver rattles against him, the flashing spear and the javelin.He eats up the ground with fierceness and rage, neither does he stand still at the sound of the trumpet.As often as the trumpet sounds he snorts,‘ Aha!’ He smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

The three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild gazelle.Asahel pursued Abner; and in going he didn’t turn to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.Then Abner looked behind him, and said,“ Is that you, Asahel?” He answered,“ It is.”Abner said to him,“ Turn away to your right hand or to your left, and grab one of the young men, and take his armor.” But Asahel would not turn away from following him.Abner said again to Asahel,“ Turn away from following me. Why should I strike you to the ground? How then could I look Joab your brother in the face?”However he refused to turn away. Therefore Abner with the back end of the spear struck him in the body, so that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place. As many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives. In their death, they were not divided. They were swifter than eagles. They were stronger than lions.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with Yahweh.
