The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The Lord watches over the outsiders who live in our land. He takes good care of children whose fathers have died. He also takes good care of widows. But he causes evil people to fail in everything they do.

The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

The Lord protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.

萬軍之耶和華說：「我要來到你們當中施行審判，速速作證指控那些行邪術的、通姦的、起假誓的、克扣工人薪水的、欺壓寡婦孤兒的、冤枉異鄉人的，以及不敬畏我的。

祂為孤兒寡婦主持公道，關愛寄居者，供給他們衣食。所以，你們要愛寄居者，因為你們也曾寄居埃及。

惡人的道路一片幽暗，他們不知被何物絆倒。

於是，哈曼被吊在他為末底改預備的木架上，王的怒氣這才平息。

在父上帝看來，純潔無瑕的虔誠是指照顧患難中的孤兒寡婦，並且不讓自己被世俗玷污。

因為這世上的智慧在上帝的眼中都是愚昧的，正如聖經上說：「上帝使智者中了自己的詭計。」

亞希多弗見自己的提議不被接納，便備上驢，啟程回鄉，安頓好家事以後，就自縊身亡了。他被安葬在他父親的墓穴裡。

祂挫敗狡猾人的陰謀，使他們無法得逞。祂使智者中了自己的詭計，使奸徒的計謀迅速落空。他們白天遇到黑暗，午間摸索如在夜晚。

我的上帝啊，求你把他們驅散，如同狂風吹散塵土和碎稭。烈火怎樣燒毀森林，火焰怎樣吞沒山嶺，求你也照樣用狂風追趕他們，用暴雨恐嚇他們。耶和華啊，求你使他們滿面羞愧，這樣他們才會來尋求你。願他們永遠羞愧驚恐，願他們在恥辱中滅亡。

我們不再向亞述求救，不再依靠戰馬，也不再稱自己所造的神像為我們的上帝。耶和華啊，只有在你那裡，孤兒才能得到憐憫。」

耶和華保護所有愛祂的人，毀滅一切惡人。

耶和華拆毀傲慢人的房屋，祂使寡婦的地界完整無損。

你們要和兒女、僕婢、同城的利未人、寄居者及孤兒寡婦在你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所，在祂面前一起歡喜快樂。

他妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友對他說：「你可以叫人做一個二十三米高的木架，明天早上求王將末底改吊在上面，然後你可以快樂地隨王去赴宴。」哈曼喜歡這個提議，就叫人做了木架。

有人告訴大衛，亞希多弗也叛變，投奔了押沙龍，大衛就禱告說：「耶和華啊，求你使亞希多弗的謀算都變得愚不可及。」

純潔的人，你以純潔待他；心術不正的人，你以計謀待他。

但王知道這陰謀後，便降旨使哈曼謀害猶太人的惡計落到他自己頭上，將他及其眾子吊在木架上。
