使我男子、既壯且健、如園囿之林木、枝葉葱蘢兮、使我女子、洵美且都、如宮殿之柱石、雕鏤工巧兮。

求主使我男子幼年剛強、如栽培之樹木、使我女子容貌美麗、如殿角雕刻之石柱、

願使我子孫。萌蘖成大樹。女子閑坤範。堪充宮中柱。

While our sons are young, they will be like healthy plants. Our daughters will be like pillars that have been made to decorate a palace.

May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace;

May our sons flourish in their youth like well nurtured plants. May our daughters be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.

Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style.

When our sons in their youth are like growing plants, And our daughters like corner pillars fashioned for a palace,

That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, Sculptured in palace style;

When our sons shall be as plants grown up in their youth, And our daughters as corner- stones hewn after the fashion of a palace;

Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters, like corner pillars that are carved in the palace style.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table.

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

We have a little sister, and her breasts are not yet grown. What shall we do for our sister on the day she is spoken for?If she is a wall, we will build towers of silver on her. If she is a door, we will enclose her with panels of cedar.

How the precious children of Zion, once worth their weight in gold, are now considered as pots of clay, the work of a potter’s hands!

The Lord says,“ The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, strutting along with swaying hips, with ornaments jingling on their ankles.Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the Lord will make their scalps bald.”In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces,the earrings and bracelets and veils,the headdresses and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms,the signet rings and nose rings,the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the pursesand mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding.
