You are the God who helps kings win battles. You save your servant David. From death by the sword

A king is not saved by a large army; a warrior will not be delivered by great strength.The horse is a false hope for safety; it provides no escape by its great power.Now the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him— those who depend on His faithful love

David said to the Philistine:“ You come against me with a dagger, spear, and sword, but I come against you in the name of Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel’s armies— you have defied Him.Today, the Lord will hand you over to me. Today, I’ll strike you down, cut your head off, and give the corpses of the Philistine camp to the birds of the sky and the creatures of the earth. Then all the world will know that Israel has a God,

Then Ishbi-benob, one of the descendants of the giant, whose bronze spear weighed about eight pounds and who wore new armor, intended to kill David.But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to his aid, struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him:“ You must never again go out with us to battle. You must not extinguish the lamp of Israel.”

Then David inquired of the Lord:“ Should I go to war against the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied to David,“ Go, for I will certainly hand the Philistines over to you.”So David went to Baal-perazim and defeated them there and said,“ Like a bursting flood, the Lord has burst out against my enemies before me.” Therefore, he named that place the Lord Bursts Out.The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men carried them off.The Philistines came up again and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim.So David inquired of the Lord, and He answered,“ Do not make a frontal assault. Circle around behind them and attack them opposite the balsam trees.When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, act decisively, for then the Lord will have marched out ahead of you to attack the camp of the Philistines.”So David did exactly as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Geba to Gezer.

So now I have placed all these lands under the authority of My servant Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. I have even given him the wild animals to serve him.All nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson until the time for his own land comes, and then many nations and great kings will enslave him.“ As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and does not place its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish by sword, famine, and plague”— this is the Lord’s declaration—“ until through him I have destroyed it.

Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became David’s subjects and brought tribute. The Lord made David victorious wherever he went.David took the gold shields of Hadadezer’s officers and brought them to Jerusalem.King David also took huge quantities of bronze from Betah and Berothai, Hadadezer’s cities.When King Toi of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,he sent his son Joram to King David to greet him and to congratulate him because David had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, for Toi and Hadadezer had fought many wars. Joram had items of silver, gold, and bronze with him.King David also dedicated these to the Lord, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued—from Edom, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Amalekites, and the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.David made a reputation for himself when he returned from striking down 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt.He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. The Lord made David victorious wherever he went.

Naaman, commander of the army for the king of Aram, was a great man in his master’s sight and highly regarded because through him, the Lord had given victory to Aram. The man was a brave warrior, but he had a skin disease.

The Lord says this to Cyrus, His anointed, whose right hand I have grasped to subdue nations before him, to disarm kings, to open the doors before him and the gates will not be shut:“ I will go before you and level the uneven places; I will shatter the bronze doors and cut the iron bars in two.I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches from secret places, so that you may know that I, Yahweh, the God of Israel call you by your name.I call you by your name, because of Jacob My servant and Israel My chosen one. I give a name to you, though you do not know Me.I am Yahweh, and there is no other; there is no God but Me. I will strengthen you, though you do not know Me,so that all may know from the rising of the sun to its setting that there is no one but Me. I am Yahweh, and there is no other.
