Keep me from the trap that they have laid for me and from the snares of evildoers!Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.

Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for my life. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.

The insolent have dug pitfalls for me; they do not live according to your law.

Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net.The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might.He says in his heart,“ God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted.

A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet.

Then they said,“ Come, let us make plots against Jeremiah, for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.”

The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.
