Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.

Why should my face not be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire?”

For thrones are set there for judgment, The thrones of the house of David.Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:“ May they prosper who love you.Peace be within your walls, Prosperity within your palaces.”For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say,“ Peace be within you.”Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good.

You will arise and have mercy on Zion; For the time to favor her, Yes, the set time, has come.For Your servants take pleasure in her stones, And show favor to her dust.

You who have escaped the sword, Get away! Do not stand still! Remember the Lord afar off, And let Jerusalem come to your mind.

For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns.

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts!My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
